The Temper Trap

the temper trap

What can I say, The Temper Trap is a breath of fresh air.  To me, at least, music was starting to get a little bland.  Then I heard these guys.  The Temper Trap’s frontman Dougy has a voice of an angel.  He really does not sound like anyone else around right now.  This Melbourn bands new album “Conditions” is produced by Jim Abiss.  This guy also produced other great acts such as The Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian.  The Traps new album has a US release date for October 13th.  Do yourself a favor and go purchase this gem of an LP.

The Temper Trap – Sweet Disposition

The Temper Trap – Love Lost

The Temper Trap – Science of Fear

The Temper Trap – Science of Fear (Herve Dub Remix)

Joel Zimmerman, better known to the world as Deadmau5, is by far one of the best DJ/producers of modern dance music.  With styles ranging from electro, progressive house, and dark techno his music productions are near flawless.  Even better is that he plays his shows with a crazy mouse mask.  The Mau5 just released his new album “For Lack of Better Name” about a week ago.  Here are two cuts from that album to show his range and musical genius.

Deadmau5 – FML

Deadmau5 – Strobe

Band of Skulls

September 25, 2009

band of skulls

Three piece outfit the Band of Skulls are from London, England and know how to rock it.  They have a style that is comparable to the White Stripes or the Dead Weathers.  Bass player and vocalist, Emma Richardson duels guitar player Russell Marsden on the vocal leads pending on what track you listen to.  It’s a good contrast to hear both male and female crooners.  Their new album “Baby Darling Doll Face Honey” is a good listen if you are a fan of grungy, post-punk blues.

Band of Skulls – Bomb

Band of Skulls – Death By Diamonds and Pearls

Jose Gonzalez

jose gonzalez

Finger picker Jose Gonzalez is easily becoming one of my favorite singer/songwriters.  Argentinian born, relocated to Sweden, this man has made modern folk music for the masses.  If you do not already own his newest release “In Our Nature” then you should consider going out and getting it.  Here is a taste!

Jose Gonzalez – Down the Line

Jose Gonzalez – Teardrop (Massive Attack cover)

Late Night Discoveries

September 24, 2009

dark matter

Having one of those  nights where sleep seems to allude me.  We all have those nights.  They are annoying and yet rewarding.  I could have been sitting in front of the t.v. set wondering why nothing is on, but instead I tuned in with my headphones and made these musical discoveries.  Hope they sound as good in the morning.

Something about the intensity of Eef Barzelay’s voice on this track.  Haunting.

Clem Snide – Me No

Don’t know much about this group.  Would love to find out more.  What caught my attention is the fact that Delphic does the remix.

Everything Everything – My Keys, Your Boyfriend (Delphic Remix)

What can I say.  You should already know this track.  Something a little more infectious about this remix though.  The drums, the handclaps, the funkiness of it!

The Rapture – House of Jealous Lovers (Maurice Fulton Remix)

Some good casio induced lo-fi from Brooklyn, NY!!!

Small Black – Bad Lover
