New Finds

October 26, 2009

Well surfing around the web today happened to be pretty fruitful.  I was fortunate enough to learn about two really amazing bands.  I must say each is quite good.  Then I realized that I am way behind on these two.  Now I know that I am not exactly the blogger that gets things out first, I do have a life, but damn, how the hell did I miss these two.  Oh well, better late than never.

First up is London’s Bombay Bicycle Club.  I cannot believe how young and talented these chaps are.  Their new album I Had the Blues But I Shook Them Loose was released back in July.  Love it, love it, love it.

Bombay Bicycle Club – Always Like This

Bombay Bicycle Club – Lamplight

division day

Secondly is the band Division Day.  These four guys are out of LA and have been gaining great attention with their latest release called Visitation.  Definetly worth your ten bucks on iTunes.

Division Day – Chalk Lines

Division Day – Reservoir

Oh thank god it is the weekend.  One more night of work and I get a day to myself.  I love having Sundays off.  Spend time with the fam and troll around the internet to find new music.  One more night.  Hope everyone is having a good weekend themselves.  Here are some weekend beats for ya.

Demon – Happy Therapy (Lifelike Remix)

Munk – Back Down (Cut Copy Jackmaster Remix)

Sweet Disposition

the temper trap...

I did a previous post about these fine Aussie gentleman back in September and since their US release they are gaining a good amount of attention.  So I thought it would be appropriate to share a couple of remixes of their hit single Sweet Disposition.  I love the original the most still, but these are two good reworkings by Alan Wilkis and Doorly.  Enjoy.

More Casablancas

Julian’s new album Phazes For the Young has unfortunately been pushed back to a Nov. 3rd release date now.  It was originally set to be released Oct. 2oth.  So to ease us with the pain he has released another single from his official website.  I am glad to hear this new song, but come on, release this album already!

mars volta - live @ the house of blues

Last night I was fortunate enough to go see the Mars Volta for the first time.  A buddy of mine was able to make some phone calls and get us the opera box seats at Cleveland’s House of Blues.  Suffice to say, MV did not disappoint.  I was blown away by their one and a half hour set.  Great music and great energy.  It will be one to remember.

Mars Volta – Cotopaxi

LCD Soundsystem

lcd soundsystem

What?  A brand new song from LCD Soundsystem?  Oh yes kids, you heard correctly.  Bye Bye Bayou is a cover of a track by Alan Vega, originally released back in 1981.  James Murphy and company are set to release the third album by LCD in March of 2010.  I don’t know about you, but I can hardly wait!

In This Light and On This Evening is the third LP from British rockers the Editors.  I must say, I am truly digging their new direction in sound.  The Editors  have chosen to go a little more dark, a little more synthed out, and a little more haunting.  The 80’s synth styled music caters to Tim Smith’s dark and brooding vocals on this album.  Fantastic!!!
